Alabaster Cattery is a small, home-based cattery owned and operated by Dennis and Kathy Amsden. We are located in Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom. Interstates I-91, I-93, and US Rt. 2 make it a reasonable drive from most of New England and New York. Kathy is a stay-at-home mom, who home-schools three children. Dennis is a State Game Warden (Conservation Officer) with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department.

Our goal is to produce and offer to you the best quality Traditional Siamese and Balinese cats. We at Alabaster are committed to this principle. We began by obtaining the best breeding stock available. We selectively breed only our best cats. Alabaster Cattery will always remain small and be part of our home. The kittens are raised underfoot with our three children and Chesapeake Bay Retriever. The children share in the responsibility of raising the kittens by participating in feeding and lots of playtime. This helps condition the kittens at an early age to ensure that they are ready to become a part of your family by age 10 to 12 weeks.

Purchasing and raising a quality purebred cat is a serious undertaking and should not be done without considerable thought and planning. It is not an inexpensive venture. Proper care includes good nutrition, health care, a safe home, and loving attention. Quality cats from reputable breeders have proper care from birth, including all shots, tests and medical exams. This ensures good health and reduces future medical expenses one may encounter with a cat of lesser quality.

Owning and operating a cattery is a labor of love. We believe that by practicing  and observing the highest standards and principles, we will gain your trust. This is of utmost importance to us. It is also important that we get to know you, for we do not take the placement of our kittens lightly. Don’t be surprised if we ask you questions about your plan to adopt a kitten. The welfare of our cats is first and foremost to us.

For obvious reasons of health and welfare
, we believe our cats should never be allowed to roam free outdoors. It seems to be a lesser known fact that cats allowed to roam free place undue stress upon small game and songbird populations.
